Types Of Reclaimed Barn Beams

If you’re renovating an older home or building new, reclaimed barn beams give you a myriad design possibilities. Hand hewn or milled beams and timbers have their own individual character and look that can’t be replicated today. Antique reclaimed barn beams can be used for fireplace mantels, inside decor, timber framing or whatever purpose your imagination can come up with. Below are some of the types of beams that each have a specific character:

• White and red oak beams: have a beautiful aged appearance and are resistant to moisture and decay- it was used in the past for barrels and boats.

• Elm and red Elm beams: have a unique grain with a stringy texture that has a classically rustic appearance.

• Hickory Beams: are hard, heavy and very strong with a straight grain that can vary in colour ranging from ash to dark brown.
