To get rid of rats in house, you may need to call a professional pest control expert. However, there are also steps you can take yourself to get rid of rats and deter them. If rats are in your home, putting down poison or traps is effective, and there are various types of traps available. They should be in places where you notice rats or droppings. Rats are probably entering your home in search of food and simply putting food away, sweeping and wiping up and making sure you don’t have torn bags or cartons of food in your pantry. It’s also important to block off any entrance to your home that rats may be using; often that’s in the attic or basement. Seal the holes and cracks where pipes come out of the walls, and trim back shrubs and trees a couple of feet from your home.
