Some of the best motorcycle adventure touring trips can be enjoyed in the United States, with a cross country trip perhaps the ultimate riding adventure. You’ll need at least a couple of weeks, although of course it’s possible to take longer and explore along the way. Riding from the east coast to the west means traversing mountains, plains and desert and although the US has fast freeways, getting off the main road and taking the back roads is recommended. Choose your time of year carefully, as you don’t want to be delayed by snow in the Rocky Mountains, and the southwest of the country can be unbearably hot in summer. Depending on your route, some highlights of any trip across the US include the Grand canyon, Mount Rushmore, and the Blue Ridge Mountains. If you’re in Sturgis, South Dakota in August, the town hosts a famous bike rally.
