What Is Relaxation Hypnosis?

Relaxation hypnosis (or hypnotherapy) is used as a way to reduce stress in a person by easing built-up pressure and tension using hypnotic suggestion. When a person is placed in a hypnotic trance by a therapist they achieve a deeply relaxed state in which the mind is directed away from everyday troubles and concerns into a place of tranquility and peace.

During the hypnotherapy process the therapist provides suggestions to a person to encourage changes in their attitude and behavior that promote a reduction of stress-related symptoms and promote a deeply relaxed state. Sometimes hypnotherapists also give patients post-hypnotic suggestions that allow them to achieve more relaxed states after their session is complete. Deep relaxation is said to have many benefits including helping to strengthen the immune system, lowering blood pressure, offering relief from chronic pain and improving energy levels, among others.
