Like many other states struggling with a newly-dominant core city that has different ideas from those of the traditional heartland surrounding it, Colorado has been moving back and forth on the issue of gun rights.
The increase in gun control Colorado Democratic politicians have been pushing has led to a rising level of resistance from law enforcement officials, particularly rural ones. These agencies have simply vowed to not enforce many of the new restrictions that have come out of the state capital in Denver.
This dispute mirrors other ones that have been taking place all over the country. The problem is that ordinary citizens are increasingly finding themselves caught in the crossfire. They have to consider whether or not to obey the law as enacted or to rely upon their local agency’s determination to ignore it. No doubt some people will end up being caught in the middle.
