When it comes to home cinema design, the display you will be looking at is, in many ways, the least important part of the system. Instead, it is a well-designed sound system that is really the key to the whole experience. It’s the movie theater sound system that really separates the movie business form the television business.
Likewise, you want an extremely well-laid-out lighting system in the room that can be dimmed to the appropriate level. Also, ergonomics is very important. You don’t want to spend two hours in an uncomfortable seat with your head elevated at an uncomfortable angle to watch a movie. You can get all that plus a box of stale popcorn at the local metroplex.
Finally, know when you have enough screen. Extremely large monitors require larger rooms to avoid inflicting serious eye strain on the viewer.
