Costa Rica is one of the best places in the world for adventure travel. This small central American country is also safe, has generally good tourist facilities and is easy to reach from the US. The country has everything you need for adventurous trips, including rain forests, volcanoes and fast flowing rivers. The country also has some of the best diving and snorkeling anywhere in the world. One popular destination here is the rural farming area of Monteverde, said to be home to the world’s first zipline. The area also offers plenty of jungle hikes and is known for its somewhat perilous hanging bridges, some of which stretch for 240 meters over the rain forest. Horseback riding is also popular here, and there are several spectacular waterfalls, as well as bungee jumping. For something more relaxing, several area coffee plantations offer guided tours.
