Disruption is defined as a break or interruption to an activity or process and is often regarded as a breaking of the status quo with implications of change. In the economic sense, disruption is often used by tech startups and digital entrepreneurs to signal new approaches to old ways of doing this. In this sense disruption is a necessary method for capitalism to renew itself.
