An automated parking system is basically a machine designed to minimize the space and number required for parking automobiles. As with a multi-level parking garage, an APS gives parked vehicles access to multiple levels while also minimizing land use, thus saving parking costs. In other words, an APS is designed to make parking easier and more convenient, even easier and more economical than the alternative. Of course, this optimization is partly offset by the additional cost required to build and implement an automated parking garage.
With so many competing technologies in the market today, it is not so surprising that there are several different types of automated parking garages available. A popular option is the remote control parking system, which is controlled by a car-mounted remote control unit and a monitor that feeds information to an interior parking control panel.
