Enjoying A Cup Of Tea In Assam

Tea has been commercially produced in India for over 200 years and Assam is one of the country’s top tea producing regions. Most Assam tour packages take in at least one of the state’s many tea plantations, most of which cover hundreds of acres in the Himalayan foothills and boast beautifully landscaped grounds. A typical tour gives you an overview of the production process and of course lets you sample the product, especially the locally produced Assam tea, known for its bright color and malty taste. And you can also stay on some of the Assam tea plantations, often in Colonial style accommodation that transports you back to the 19th century. Although tea is a staple in this area, there’s a lot more to see on any tour, including several wildlife sanctuaries and parks, beautiful temples and shrines and spectacular Kakochang Waterfalls.
